Power of attorney

The KRG Representation in the US is able to provide documentation forms for individuals to create powers of attorney and related legal matters. The PDF forms below will cover the majority of needs.

Special Power of Attorney - to grant an individual in Kurdistan the power to act on your behalf for a specific purpose

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective June 1, 2022, all special power of attorney forms dealing with inheritance, buying or selling of land, home, cars, etc. must be typed. Handwritten forms will be rejected and returned to the applicant. It is recommended that you download the PDF form and then fill it out using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

 General Power of Attorney - to grant an individual in Kurdistan the power to act on your behalf in all aspects

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Effective June 1, 2022, all general of attorney forms must be typed. Handwritten forms will be rejected and returned to the applicant. It is recommended that you download the PDF form and then fill it out using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

 Instructions:

• Complete two copies of the standard Kurdish form.
• For retirement/pension only: complete two copies of the pension form ---> 
• Complete one copy of the English form in the presence of a notary public.
• Include two-colored passport-size photos of the applicant.
• Include two-colored passport-size photos of your attorney/person being appointed.
• Include a copy of the applicant’s American identity card and Iraqi ID card (Jinsya).
• Include the applicant’s contact information: full name, address, phone number, and email (if available).
• Mail all of the above paperwork to:

Once processed, documents will be returned by regular postal mail.   To expedite the return of the documents, include a pre-paid self-addressed return mailing envelope (USPS ‘Express Mail' or FedEx). This service is free of charge.

The application process time is three weeks (15 business days), once all documentation is received at the KRG-US office.
