Representative Treefa Aziz attends first public event at American University

Washington, DC, USA ( – On October 23, 2023, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representative Ms. Treefa Aziz participated at an event hosted by American University titled "Exploring Kurdish Culture and Politics."  Dr. Yerevan Saeed, the Mustafa Barzani Scholar of Global Kurdish Studies, engaged in a dialogue on the intricacies of Kurdish politics and history, with a focus on recent developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The topics of the discussion included KRG's relations with Baghdad, the impact of the suspension of oil exports on the Kurdistan Region's economy, the KRG's 9th cabinet priorities such as diversification of its economy, and the long-standing partnership between the United States and the KRG, exploring its significance in the context of evolving geopolitical dynamics.

Representative Aziz is an alumna of the American University School of International Services, where she earned her MA in 1995. This marks her first public speaking engagement since assuming the role as the US Representation office in July 2023.
