Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met John Godfrey, Department of States' Acting Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, on January 20, 2022.

The two sides had a cordial discussion about the security situation in Iraq and Syria, Peshmerga partnership, and ways to limit the impact of extremism. Mr. Godfrey praised the heroism and sacrifice of the Peshmerga forces.

The KRG Representative expressed the Kurdistan Region's appreciation and gratitude for the United States' support in fighting terrorism.

The Global Coalition against ISIS was formed in September 2014 and is unique in its membership, scope, and commitment. With 84 members, it is committed to degrading and ultimately defeating Daesh on all fronts, from dismantling its networks and countering its global ambitions.
