Representative Abdul Rahman briefs members of U.S. Congress



Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman had virtual meetings and phone calls with several Congress members in the past few weeks to brief them on the positive developments and the severe economic and public health challenges in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

As part of the Kurdistan Regional Government's outreach to the U.S. Congress, Ms. Abdul Rahman spoke with members of the House of Representatives Don Bacon, Bradley Byrne, John Garamendi, Vicky Hartzler, Jim Langevin, Mikie Sherrill, Chris Stewart, Mike Turner, and Michael Waltz. Additionally, she briefed several congressional staff members on the Armed Services Committee.

Ms. Abdul Rahman thanked them for their bipartisan support and continued interest in developments in Kurdistan and Iraq. The KRG representative outlined the recent sharp rise in confirmed cases of COVID-19, the pandemic's economic impact, discussions between Erbil and Baghdad, the continued threat posed by ISIS in the disputed territories, and other regional developments that are cause for concern.
