Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman held separate virtual meetings with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and soon-to-join the Kurdish American Congressional Caucus, and Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA), member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, this week.
Ms. Abdul Rahman updated Congresswoman Tenney on the security and economic situation in Kurdistan. They also discussed the Kurdish-American community in her sub-districts of Binghamton and Utica. The Congresswoman expressed her support to the people of Kurdistan and her wish to visit Kurdistan in the near future.
Similarly, the KRG Representative briefed Senator Ossoff on the security and economic situation in Kurdistan and the status of internally displaced communities and refugees. They also talked about regional issues impacting the Kurdistan Region, including the status of the al-Hol camp in Syria and the security risk posed by ISIS supporters within al-Hol to the broader region.
