Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman attended the signing ceremony on September 21, 2022, for the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the U.S. Department of Defense to continue to support the Peshmerga for defeat-ISIS operations. 

The ceremony was held in Erbil under the auspices of President Nechirvan Barzani. Peshmerga Affairs Minister Shoresh Ismail and Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Affairs Celeste Wallander signed the MOU. They and President Barzani delivered speeches welcoming the renewal of the MOU as a sign of the U.S. Kurdistan partnership and the commitment of both sides to the enduring defeat of ISIS.
 
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani were also present at the signing, reemphasizing the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to cooperating with U.S. security forces under the Peshmerga reform program and Iraqi Constitution.

Representative Abdul Rahman said, ‘The renewal of the MOU is significant for both sides and is a clear message that this partnership continues and remains strong. We thank the Department of Defense and the US administration and Congress for their support to this memorandum and to our peshmerga forces in general.’
