Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – In her first official visit to the Kurdistan Region after assuming her post in Washington, Representative Aziz held a series of meetings with key KRG and US officials, religious leaders, and other stakeholders in Erbil. Her discussions with the head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Minister Safeen Dizayee, focused on strategies to enhance diplomatic relations and foster greater bilateral collaborations. The Department of Foreign Relations plays a pivotal role in managing the international engagement of the Kurdistan Region, representing its interests globally, and fostering relationships with foreign governments and organizations.

Other notable engagements included meetings with senior officials at the US Consulate General in Erbil, senior staff at the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency office, the KRG Minister of Interior, the President of the Diwan of the Council of Ministers, Cardinal Louis Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church, the KRG Minister of Transportation and Communication, the KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy, the Secretary-General of the High Council of Women's Affairs, the Head of the Department of Information Technology, and the Director of the Joint Crisis Coordination Center. These high-level discussions promote greater strategic cooperation, shaping mutual priorities, and reinforcing the strong partnership between the KRG and the United States.

Finally, Representative Aziz attended an all-women handcraft festival in Erbil that showcased the creativity, skill, and artistry of Kurdish artisans.
