KRG Representative Participates in a Ministerial Meeting of Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.



Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman took part in a virtual meeting of a small group of Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS on Thursday, June 4.

Ms. Abdul Rahman, the KRG Representative to the United States, participated as a member of the Iraq delegation, which was led by Ambassador Fareed Yasseen, Iraq's envoy in Washington DC.

The U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi Di Maio, co-hosted the meeting and heard an address by Iraq's new Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi and Ambassador Yasseen, emphasizing the unity of purpose among different communities in Iraq in the fight against ISIS.

The Small Group of 32 countries in the 82-strong Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to the enduring defeat of ISIS, to supporting partner forces in Iraq and Syria and to accountability for ISIS' crimes. The foreign ministers also discussed the emerging threat posed by ISIS affiliates in West Africa and the Sahel.
