Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman and Rashad Hussain, the U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, had an in-person meeting at the State Department on June 16, 2022.
The two sides discussed the peaceful coexistence in Kurdistan in an otherwise hostile environment in the Middle East for religious minorities. They also discussed the Sinjar Agreement and the recent rulings by the Federal Court, which are politically motivated.
Ambassador Rashad Hussain serves as principal advisor to the Secretary of State and advisor to the U.S. President on religious freedom conditions and policy. He leads the Department’s efforts to monitor religious freedom abuses, persecution, and discrimination worldwide and oversees policies and programs to address these concerns.
