Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – KRG Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman had a productive first meeting with Congressman Derrick Van Orden, Republican of Wisconsin, on April 26. They discussed shared values and mutual interests between the United States and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the KRG's economic priorities, including agriculture.

Congressman Van Orden, a former Navy Seal who served in Iraq and Kurdistan, offered his perspective on the relationship between the United States and the Kurdistan Region. He expressed his strong support for the Peshmerga forces and the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region.

Ms. Abdul Rahman thanked Congressman Van Orden for his support to the Kurdistan Region, and for his service to his country.

Congressman Van Orden, who was elected to the US Congress in November 2022, is a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
