Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – The KRG Representative to the United States, Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, met with Congressman Don Bacon (Republican of Nebraska) on March 24, 2023, to discuss security, economic and political developments in Kurdistan, Iraq, and broader region.

They also discussed progress of the peshmerga reform program and the need to continue to face down ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria. The Congressman expressed his support for the peshmerga forces and for US assistance to ensure they can continue to contain ISIS.

Ms. Abdul Rahman thanked Congressman Bacon for his friendship and support towards the Kurdistan Region. She also expressed appreciation for the Congressman’s continued interest in Kurdistan and Iraq since they and the United States have many shared interests.
During his career in the Air Force, Congressman Bacon served in Iraq in 2007 to 2008 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
