Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – The KRG Representation team welcomed Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, to the KRG Mission in Washington on August 23, 2022.
Dr. Atrushi is on a two-week national visit focused on partnership development and educational collaboration. His visit to Washington D.C. also included meetings with the United States Institute of Peace and the United States Department of State.
The KRG team and Dr. Atrushi discussed expanding collaboration between Kurdistani universities and American institutions. Dr. Atrushi discussed the University of Duhok's agricultural education partnership with Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, where several of the university's personnel are receiving training on best practices for reviving agriculture in the Nineveh Planes and how to support community-based farming.
The University of Duhok's top three educational priorities are teacher training, agricultural education, and computer science. Today, the University of Duhok has 19 colleges with 67 Departments, nearly 23,000 undergraduate students, more than 2,500 administrative staff members, and 1,800 academic staff.
