KRG Prime Minister Engaged with Leading Policy Think Tanks



Washington, D.C. (us.gov.krd) — Prime Minister Masrour Barzani engaged with leading US policy think tanks and research institutions in Washington, D.C. A roundtable discussion was hosted by the KRG Representation in the United States, where Prime Minister Barzani provided a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader Middle East. He underscored the importance of upholding Iraq's federal structure and adhering to democratic and federal principles. He emphasized the Kurdistan Region's constitutional status within Iraq, reflecting on the Kurdish people's sacrifices for their legitimate rights.

A key point of discussion was the Kurdistan Region's commitment to resolve disputes within the framework of the Iraqi constitution. Prime Minister Barzani stressed the critical need for the equitable distribution of the region's budget by Baghdad and the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, a move vital for maintaining regional security and stability.

Other topics of discussion included unresolved issues in the disputed territories, including Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution and Sinjar Agreement. This meeting showcased the Kurdistan Regional Government's proactive engagement with international policy experts, reaffirming its commitment to constructive dialogue and collaborative problem-solving initiatives.
