Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – KRG Representative to the United States Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman had a productive first meeting with US Congressman Andy Ogles during which she invited him to visit Kurdistan and to join the Kurdish American Congressional Caucus.

The meeting on May 23, 2023, served as a preliminary discussion to explore various areas of mutual interest that could further strengthen the partnership between the United States and the Kurdistan Region.

Representative Abdul Rahman and Congressman Ogles, who was recently elected to represent Nashville, discussed developments in regional security and avenues for fostering economic partnerships. They both highlighted the positive and active role of the Kurdish-American community that has made Nashville its home over the past five decades. They discussed the potential sister-city partnership between Nashville and Erbil province, which is currently under consideration.

Congressman Ogles  represents the 5th congressional district of Tennessee, which encompasses the hub for the largest Kurdish-American constituency in the United States. He attended the Newroz celebrations in Nashville earlier this spring.
