KRG Envoy discusses private-sector development with CIPE and US Chamber

Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, the KRG Representative to the United States, met with officials from the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the US Chamber of Commerce to discuss private-sector development in the Kurdistan Region.

The KRG envoy met with Greg Simpson and Steve Rosenlund, Director and Deputy Director, respectively, for the Middle East and North Africa at CIPE, and Anna Burress, Director for Middle East Affairs at the US Chamber, on April 19.

The Representative outlined the Kurdistan Regional Government’s economic priorities, including diversifying from oil and gas, strengthening the agriculture and tourism sectors, and promoting entrepreneurship and private-sector growth.

The US Chamber and the Representation are working together to organize a visit to the Kurdistan Region in June for American companies involved in all aspects of agriculture, from ‘farm to fork’.

CIPE supports economic and democratic development, advocating for accountability and transparency in government institutions to help develop better environments for business, trade, democracy and governance while encouraging both private citizens and the private sector to deepen their involvement in the policymaking process.
