KRG envoy discusses latest developments in Kurdistan, Iraq with members of Congress



Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met with several members of Congress before the Christmas recess to discuss the political landscape following the Iraqi parliamentary elections and to highlight the US Kurdistan partnership in the enduring defeat of ISIS.

Ms. Abdul Rahman had separate online meetings with Democratic Representatives Deborah Ross of North Carolina and Juan Vargas of California, as well as Republican Representatives Young Kim of California, John Rutherford of Florida, Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, and Don Young of Alaska.

In each meeting, the KRG envoy updated the members of Congress and their staff on the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments in Kurdistan and Iraq and set out the potential outcomes of the political discussions following Iraq’s October elections.

She also thanked members of Congress for their support to the Kurdistan Region and the peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS and in helping to maintain Iraq’s stability.
