KRG co-hosts International Religious Freedom Roundtable in Washington

Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) - The Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in the United States and International Religious Freedom (IRF) Roundtable hosted a discussion on July 11, 2018 in Washington, DC on issues facing religious and ethnic minorities in the Kurdistan Region with international advocacy and aid groups.

The IRF Roundtable is an informal group of individuals from non-governmental organizations who gather regularly to privately discuss international religious freedom issues. It is a safe space where participants speak freely to sharing ideas and information and propose joint advocacy actions to address specific issues and problems.

The meeting was attended by representatives of nearly 30 groups.  KRG Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman and the IRF Roundtable co-chair Greg Mitchell delivered remarks, as did several NGOs who had recently returned from Kurdistan. Among the topics discussed was the possibility of hosting a roundtable in Erbil in the near future.
