KRG-US Hosts Holiday Reception in Washington

The Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in the United States hosted a Holiday Reception in Washington D.C. The event was attended by senior representatives from across the US government, including the White House National Security Council (NSC), the Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), and the Department of War, alongside congressional offices and members of the policy, diplomatic, and business communities, to reflect on a year of progress and partnership.

Participants also included representatives from leading think tanks and institutions such as the Atlantic Council and the Middle East Institute, as well as key economic and trade stakeholders, including the US Chamber of Commerce and the US–Kurdistan Business Council. Members of local organizations, Kurdish political parties, and the broader Kurdish community joined the gathering, underscoring the depth and diversity of engagement with the Kurdistan Region in Washington.

During the reception, KRG Representative Treefa Aziz reflected on the enduring relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, grounded in shared interests, mutual respect, and a long-standing commitment to stability, security, and prosperity. The evening also provided an opportunity to highlight recent milestones in US–Kurdistan relations, including the opening of the world’s largest US consulate in Erbil, a significant symbol of confidence in the Kurdistan Region and the strength of the bilateral partnership.

Her remarks also emphasized the Kurdistan Regional Government’s continued reform efforts under the 9th Cabinet, including progress in electricity access, job creation, banking and public service modernization, infrastructure development, education, and innovation. These advances reflect the KRG’s commitment to improving services, expanding economic opportunities, and strengthening long-term cooperation with international partners.

The KRG-US Representation remains committed to deepening ties with the United States and advancing a more prosperous and stable future for the region in the coming new year.
