KRG Representative meets new Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran



Washington D.C., United States (us.gov.krd) – KRG Representative to the United State, Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met today with the new Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran, Andrew Peek to discuss Erbil-Washington ties and ongoing tensions between Erbil and Baghdad.

Representative Rahman congratulated the Deputy Assistant Secretary on his appointment and wished him success. Both sides reviewed the strong relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, and underlined the importance of continued cooperation. They also shared views on ways to end the current political deadlock between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Government of Iraq, aiming to address the longstanding grievances.

Representative Rahman also met recently with National Security Council’s Director for Iraq, Iran, Syria and Lebanon, Joel Rayburn and the new Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, Michael Patrick Mulroy.
