University of Duhok and UNMC agree to advance healthcare and medical education



Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) - Duhok Governor Ali Tatar, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Chancellor Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold, and KRG Representative to the United States Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman participated in a virtual ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between University of Duhok Medical College and UNMC.

The MOU, signed on April 10, 2023, aims to advance healthcare and medical education through joint programs and research initiatives between the two institutions. University of Duhok Medical College is one of the leading medical colleges in the Kurdistan Region, while UNMC is a premier academic medical center in the United States.

During the event, Governor Tatar and Chancellor Gold expressed their excitement about the collaboration and praised the potential for advancing healthcare in the Kurdistan Region. KRG Representative Abdul Rahman also highlighted the importance of the MOU in strengthening ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.

Governor Tatar said, ‘We are very pleased to see this MOU between the two institutions and to have this opportunity to advance cooperation between them in the field of healthcare. This collaboration will enable us to share knowledge and expertise between our institutions, which will benefit our communities in many ways.’

This partnership reflects the KRG Representation’s commitment to building strong ties with academic institutions and fostering international cooperation to improve education and healthcare in the region.
