Representative Abdul Rahman congratulates USIP President Grande on her new post



Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, on Friday, March 12, met with Lise Grande, the recently appointed President of the US Institute of Peace, to discuss recent developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

In a virtual meeting, Ms. Abdul Rahman congratulated Ms. Grande on her role at the helm of USIP, an institution that knows Iraq and the Kurdistan Region well. It works with local partners to prevent, mitigate, and resolve conflict and build local capacity to manage disputes peacefully.

Ms. Grande also knows the region well from her time as Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq. 

The Representative and Ms. Grande discussed the various challenges and opportunities ahead of Iraq and Kurdistan Region, including the humanitarian situation, reconciliation, and the positive impact of the visit of Pope Francis.
