Representative Abdul Rahman and USAID Assistant Administrator Harvey discuss challenges facing host and displaced communities.

Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman and Michael Harvey, USAID Assistant Administrator in the Middle East Bureau, spoke by phone on Thursday about recent developments in the Kurdistan Region following the pandemic and fall in oil prices.

Ms. Abdul Rahman, the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative to the United States, said that the KRG is seeking to improve its readiness for the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 and a possible rise in the number of cases following the easing of restrictions in the Region. She said the fall in oil prices would also impact the economy, and both the host and displaced communities need support. She also thanked USAID, and the U.S. government as a whole, for its support to the people of Kurdistan and the refugees and internally displaced people there.
