Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) - KRG Representative to the United States Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman spoke on Monday with David Copley, the newly-appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq Affairs.

The two officials spoke via telephone about the growing challenges facing Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including the outbreak of COVID-19, ongoing humanitarian crisis, and the issues around forming a new federal Iraqi government. They also discussed the opportunities for greater cooperation presented by the these difficulties.

The previous week, Representative Abdul Rahman spoke with Erik Olson (pictured here, December 12, 2019), Director for Iraq Affairs at the National Security Council, to update him on recent developments in the region, including the KRG’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
