Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman recently briefed members of the US Congress about the security situation in Kurdistan Region and Iraq and discussed a range of topics, including the US Iraq strategic dialogue and the upcoming elections to the Iraqi parliament.

The Kurdistan Regional Government envoy met separately with Congressman Andre Carson of Indiana, and Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut, both of whom are members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Rick Larsen of Washington, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee.

In the meeting with Congressman Himes, they discussed the passing of the Iraqi federal budget law and the implications for Kurdistan Region’s economy and relations with Baghdad, in addition to regional security issues.

These and other questions, such as the continuing threat from ISIS, the significance of the US Iraq dialogue and the urgency of credible elections were discussed with Congressman Carson and Representative Larsen.

The KRG is proud to have bipartisan support from members of the US Congress.
