Peshmerga and Asayish officials take part in National Defense University training program



Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman welcomed a delegation of Peshmerga and Asayish officers to the KRG Mission in Washington on August 31, 2022.

The delegation discussed their participation in the National Defense University's Near East-South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) training program. They shared new developments in Kurdistan and Iraq's security environment and potential avenues for increased United States cooperation to protect long-term security in the region.

Representative Abdul Rahman thanked the delegation for their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the people of Kurdistan.

The Peshmerga and Asayish are the defense force and security service of the Kurdistan Region, respectively. The delegation from the Kurdistan Region is part of an Iraq-wide team that is visiting Washington for the NESA training program.

The NESA Center for Strategic Studies is the U.S. Department of Defense institution for promoting security cooperation with partner countries in the Near East and South Asia region. The KRG is proud to continue its collaborative relationship with the National Defense University.
