Minister Reber Ahmed meets with Chaldean-Assyrian community to discuss relations in Kurdistan, Nineveh



Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) Minister of Interior for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Reber Ahmed, and the KRG Representative, Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, met with representatives of the Chaldean-Assyrian -community in America and Al-Qosh on March 25, 2023, to discuss community relations in the Nineveh Plain and Kurdistan Region.

The meeting with Martin Manna, President of the Chaldean Community Foundation in Michigan, was held in a frank and productive atmosphere. The participants discussed a range of issues, including the security situation in the Nineveh Plain and the return of displaced families to their places of origin.

Minister Ahmed reiterated the KRG’s commitment to the safety and security of all communities in the Kurdistan Region and pledged to continue to work with the Chaldean-Assyrian community to address their concerns.

‘We are committed to building a strong and prosperous Kurdistan Region that is home to all communities,’ said Minister Ahmed. ‘We value our relationship with the Chaldean-Assyrian community, and we are committed to working with them to address their concerns.’

The Chaldean-Assyrian-Syriac community is one the key components that make up the diversity of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. The community has a rich history and culture,  but has suffered from displacement, migration and security challenges because of ISIS and rogue militias.
