Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - In this episode of the Kurdistan In America podcast, our guest Kathy Keary, the US Strategic Partnerships Advisor for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG)—a demining organization that has been working in the Kurdistan Region in Iraq since 1992—discusses her experience in the Kurdistan Region and Sinjar. Ms. Keary says that Kurdistan Region alone would be in the top five most contaminated countries in the world affected by landmines and unexploded ordnance, while Iraq as a whole is in the top three. She also shares what MAG is doing to empower local communities in Kurdistan, Sinjar, and across Iraq to clear their farms, villages, and towns from these deadly devices.
