Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, on Tuesday, March 24, had a virtual meeting with Andrew Light, the Department of Energy’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Affairs, and Acting Assistant Secretary.

Ms. Abdul Rahman and Dr. Light discussed the Kurdistan Region’s oil and gas development and how Kurdish gas could eventually be part of the energy solution in Iraq and further afield. The Department of Energy began conducting a study into Kurdistan’s gas market, which is expected to be completed in the coming months.

They also discussed options for green energy and ways of encouraging greater investment in the sector in Kurdistan.
