Washington - D.C., USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman and members and staff of the U.S. Congress have been holding online meetings and phone calls instead of face-to-face meetings due to the pandemic.

In the past few weeks, Ms. Abdul Rahman has spoken to Congressman Francis Rooney, Co-Chair of the Kurdish-American Congressional Caucus, Representatives Jack Bergman, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Mike Gallagher, also a member of the House Armed Services, and Albio Sires, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, as well as the staff of other congress members.

Ms. Abdul Rahman updated them on recent developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader Middle East, including the humanitarian situation, the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the health and economy of Kurdistan. Further, she shed light on the successful formation of a new government in Baghdad headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the security situation in light of the uptick in ISIS attacks. She thanked the members of Congress and staff for their support to the people and peshmerga forces of the Kurdistan Region and called for their continued support.
