KRG Representative engages in diplomatic dialogue with U.S. Department of State officials



Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – In August 2023, Ms. Treefa Aziz, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representative to the United States, met with Victoria Taylor, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iran and Iraq at the U.S. Department of State. The discussions revolved around enhancing bilateral cooperation, with both representatives emphasizing the significance of strengthening ties between the United States and the Kurdistan Region for regional stability and progress.

A key focus of their dialogue was about the reform initiatives within the Peshmerga forces, recognizing their pivotal role in ensuring the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, critical energy-related topics were emphasized, underlining the energy sector's central role as a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship.

In a sperate meeting, KRG Representative Aziz extended her congratulations to Consul General Mark Stroh on his appointment as the United States Consul General of Erbil. The discussions offered a valuable opportunity for them to explore the priorities and objectives of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

This diplomatic exchange reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the United States and the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing their commitment to open communication, collaboration, and shared values.
