Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – KRG Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met with US Congressman Seth Moulton on May 17, 2023, to discuss US support for the Peshmerga forces and to update him on recent developments in Kurdistan and Iraq.

They discussed the positive relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the urgent need to address the prolonged halt of oil exports from Kurdistan, and the security requirements of the Kurdistan Region which remains a factor for stability in Iraq.

Representative Abdul Rahman thanked Congressman Moulton for his support to Kurdistan over the years and for his longstanding membership in the Kurdish-American Congressional Caucus. She also thanked the US Congress for including assistance to the Peshmerga in its annual National Defense Authorization Act, or national defense budget.

Congressman Moulton has been serving as the House Representative for the 6th Congressional District of Massachusetts since 2015. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and is set to assume the role of Co-Chair of the Kurdish-American Congressional Caucus.
