KRG Representation in the United States partners with USKBC to take American companies to Kurdistan

Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – The KRG Representation in the United States and the US Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC) have together arranged a trade delegation to visit Kurdistan Region next week.

The delegation of about 20 people representing 12 companies will meet high-level government officials as well as Kurdistani companies and leaders of the Kurdish chambers of commerce. This group of companies spans many sectors, including the food and beverage industry, energy, technology, real estate, and digital arts.

The USKBC is marking its 10th anniversary this year and is increasing its membership and activities with the support of the KRG Representation. Some of USKBC’s long-standing companies include oil giant Chevron, security company Garda World and real-estate specialist Claremont.

The delegation will visit Erbil and Duhok. Previously the USKBC has visited Slemani as well and has brought American companies to Kurdistan almost every year. This is the first visit since October 2019, after which the pandemic made travel difficult.

Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, KRG Representative to the United States, said, ‘It’s apt that on the USKBC’s tenth anniversary, a delegation of American companies visits Kurdistan. Their commitment to the region and their investment in our economy has endured despite the ups and downs of the past decade, including the war against ISIS and the economic impact of the pandemic on our economy. The timing of the visit also sends a signal that American companies remain committed to Kurdistan even as some recent decisions in Baghdad may have caused nervousness in some quarters. It’s a vote of confidence in Kurdistan’s resilience and in the people’s warm welcome to international business partners.’
