Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – The KRG Representation in the United States welcomed Dr. Randall Rhodes, President of the American University of Kurdistan (AUK), and Dr. Honar Issa, from AUK’s Board of Trustees, to the Kurdistan Regional Government Mission in Washington on March 7, 2023.

Dr. Rhodes outlined the successes of the university and its plans to expand its partnerships with higher education institutions in the United States through student exchange and research programs.

Dr. Rhodes spoke about the university's commitment to providing quality education to students from across Kurdistan and Iraq, and to increasing diversity among students and faculty.

Dr. Rhodes and Dr. Issa were in Washington for meetings with the State Department and members of Congress. The United States has provided funding for AUK and other universities in Kurdistan and Iraq, including the American University of Iraq Slemani.

AUK was founded in 2014 by Masrour Barzani, who is now Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
