KRG Envoy meets US Presidential Coordinator for International Energy Affairs

Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) - Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met with Amos Hochstein, the United States Presidential Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, on July 19, 2022.

Ms. Abdul Rahman discussed recent developments in Kurdistan and Iraq and strategies for contributing to stabilizing the world energy crisis. She emphasized the need for a resolution to the current legal dispute pursued by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil over the KRG's oil and gas law, and that the KRG is seeking dialogue with Baghdad to find a long-term solution to the disputes over energy resources.

The pipeline from Kurdistan Region to Turkey delivers up to 500,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the world market. Safeguarding Kurdistan’s energy infrastructure is essential to mitigating the shortage of world supply and maintaining stability in the region. American companies have invested vast sums in the energy sector and the KRG remains committed to its contracts with them and other investors.
