KRG envoy meets State Department’s Jacques Etienne to discuss commercial initiatives

Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Representative Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman had a productive meeting with Jacques Etienne, the Iraq Economic Chief at the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, on March 24.

They discussed commercial initiatives, including investment opportunities, agricultural development, climate challenges, and Kurdistan's growing potential as a tourist destination. The two discussed youth entrepreneurship, small business initiatives, and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

The Kurdistan Regional Government is committed to continuing its economic reforms by digitizing services, cutting red tape, and increasing transparency.

The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs directs U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and North Africa region.

American companies have been investing in Kurdistan for nearly two decades. Earlier this month, a large delegation of American business executives visited the region with the US Kurdistan Business Council.
