Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, the KRG envoy to the United States, held a productive and friendly meeting with Dr. Martin Larose, Cindy Kleiman, and Jafar Ahmad, officials at Global Affairs Canada, on April 26.

During the meeting with the Canadian foreign ministry, they discussed various topics to strengthen bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and Canada, including political and security affairs as well as trade and education. The discussions were productive and fruitful, with both parties expressing their commitment to further cooperation.

The KRG envoy expressed her appreciation for the support that Canada has provided to the Kurdistan Region, especially during challenging times. The meeting also provided an opportunity for the KRG to discuss the importance of the continued support of Canada in the region. Ms. Abdul Rahman also highlighted concerns raised by the Kurdish-Canadian diaspora about immigration-related matters.

Global Affairs Canada is the department responsible for managing Canada's diplomatic and consular relations, as well as its international trade and development efforts.
