Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – KRG envoy Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman met with Congressman Tim Burchett, member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, on July 28, 2022.
Ms. Abdul Rahman updated Congressman Burchett on Iraq and Kurdistan's political and security developments, including the threat of ISIS and attacks on Kurdistan's oil and gas infrastructure. She also discussed Kurdistan's importance to the world energy market and its pivotal contributions to regional and global economic and social stability.
The pipeline from Kurdistan Region to Turkey delivers up to 500,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the world market. Safeguarding Kurdistan’s energy infrastructure is essential to mitigating the shortage of world supply and maintaining stability in the region.
Congressman Tim Burchett has served as representative for Tennessee's 2nd Congressional District since 2019 and previously served as Mayor of Knoxville, a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, and Tennessee Senate representing Knox County.
