Washington DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the KRG Representative was received at the US State Department by Steve Bitner, Director of the Office of Iraq Affairs at the Department’s Near East Bureau.

They discussed negotiations towards government formation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s concerns regarding the unwarranted pressure from the Iraqi Oil Ministry on international oil and gas companies operating in Kurdistan.

Mr. Bitner said that America is ready to work with the new Iraqi government and that the United States has much to offer to further the partnership, for example, in investment.

The Representative said a stable and predictable investment environment in Iraq and Kurdistan, especially in the oil and gas sector, is fundamental not only to Kurdistan and Iraq’s future but also to the global energy market, including the United States’.
