Governor Khoshnaw and KRG Representative meet Congresswoman Hartzler



Washington, DC, USA (us.gov.krd) – Governor Omed Khoshnaw and the KRG Representative to the United States, Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, met with Congresswoman Vickey Hartzler, member of the House Armed Services Committee, on May 20.

The Governor updated the Congresswoman on security threats to the peace and stability of the Kurdish capital, Kurdistan Region, and Iraq and outlined the humanitarian situation in his province. He also thanked the Congresswoman for her support of the people of Kurdistan.

Erbil has come under ballistic-missile attack from Iran and has been targeted by some militia groups within Iraq. Governor Khoshnaw reiterated the KRG’s commitment to peace within Iraq and with its neighbors and to maintaining Kurdistan Region’s commitment to Iraqi sovereignty. He also outlined Erbil’s role as a safe haven for those seeking stability and safety.

The United States is a crucial partner to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in the fight against ISIS and assists in various areas to the peshmerga forces who have fought ISIS since 2014 and continue to protect the country.

Congressman Hartzler represents the people of Missouri's Fourth Congressional District. She began her public service in 1994 when she successfully ran for State Representative in the Missouri General Assembly. She was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 and serves on the House Armed Services and Agriculture Committees.
